More Homes in Rancho Palos Verdes Landslide Area to Lose Power

Pacific Gas and Electric will shut off power to more homes starting tonight at 8 p.m. in the area of the Rancho Palos Verdes landslide.

The new shutdowns will impact approximately 1,150 additional customers in the Portuguese Bend landslide area, according to the utility.

PG&E said the precautionary power outages are necessary to ensure the safety of its crews and the community as they work to repair damaged infrastructure and restore power to the area.

Power shutdown details:

* The power shutdown will begin today, August 17, 2023, at 8 p.m. * Approximately 1,150 additional customers in the Portuguese Bend landslide area will be impacted. * The power outage is expected to last for up to 24 hours.

PG&E said it will provide updates on the power restoration process as they become available.

In the meantime, customers who are impacted by the power outage are urged to make necessary preparations, such as having a battery-powered radio and flashlights on hand.
