Southington To Commemorate Events Of Sept. 11, 2001

Community Remembers Victims, First Responders

The Town of Southington will hold a ceremony on Saturday, September 11, 2021, to remember the events of September 11, 2001. The ceremony will take place at the 9/11 Memorial on the Town Green at 9:00 a.m.

The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor William DePaolo, Fire Chief James Paul, and Police Chief Jack Daly. There will also be a reading of the names of the victims of the attacks, and a moment of silence.

Honoring the Victims and First Responders

The ceremony is an opportunity for the community to come together to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks and to honor the first responders who worked tirelessly to save lives.

The 9/11 Memorial was dedicated in 2006. The memorial is made of granite and includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The memorial is a reminder of the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001, and the sacrifice of the first responders who worked tirelessly to save lives.

Additional Information

For more information about the ceremony, please contact the Southington Parks and Recreation Department at (860) 628-0410.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Southington Community Center, 932 Meriden Avenue.
